About Hanksgiving
Hanksgiving is a day devoted to learning, connecting, and celebrating rope in all its forms — from artistry to partnership to technical skill. Our lineup offers something for every experience level, with classes for riggers, bottoms, and curious learners. Each class block is 90 minutes long, and there are two classrooms: Rowdy Room and Aerial Room. Your ticket allows you to attend any class that fits your interests and skill level.

Block 1 — 10:15 AM to 11:45 AM
OK, but Why?
Room: Rowdy
Instructors: @MightDelete & @rural_roper
Skill Level: Beginner+
Materials Needed: 3–4 hanks of rope (approx. 8m each)
When I began tying, I learned a lot of specific patterns and techniques — but not much about why I was doing what I was doing. This class explores the reasoning behind rope choices, body placement, and tension, helping you develop intuition and intention in your tying. Perfect for those ready to move beyond mimicry into mastery.
[Open Practice / Community Tie Time]
Room: Aerial
Instructors: HPIC / Event Staff
Skill Level: All levels welcome
Materials Needed: Optional rope for practice
A relaxed, open space to practice what you’ve learned, tie with friends, or ask follow-up questions. This is a supervised, non-instructional block meant for low-pressure rope play and connection.
Block 2 — 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
Upline Management
Room: Rowdy
Instructors: Jade & Jess
Skill Level: Intermediate (prior suspension experience recommended)
Materials Needed: 4+ hanks of rope; safety shears
A deep dive into the mechanics and risk factors of uplines — the ropes that carry the load. You’ll learn to manage friction, layout, and force distribution; create clean, efficient handling; and troubleshoot common problems. The goal: safe, predictable, and elegant suspension systems.
Striking Poses — Is It an M?
Room: Aerial
Instructors: Milk
Skill Level: All levels welcome
Materials Needed: 3 or more 8m lengths of rope
This class explores how to create beautiful, intentional shapes with rope. Whether for photos, performance, or artistic expression, you’ll learn to build sustainable poses, highlight body lines, and collaborate effectively with your partner. Includes bottoming tips for balance and endurance.
Block 3 — 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM
Intro to Suspension Bottoming
Room: Rowdy
Instructors: Lilith & Hazel
Skill Level: Bottoms with some floor rope experience
Materials Needed: Enough rope to tie upper and lower body; safety shears
So you’d like to fly — maybe soon, maybe someday. This session focuses on what bottoms need to know before leaving the ground: body awareness, self-advocacy, communication, and aftercare. Learn to recognize readiness, assess risk, and prepare both mentally and physically for suspension experiences. THIS CLASS DOES NOT TEACH SUSPENSION TO RIGGERS. This is a BOTTOMING class, we will not teach uplines or lockoffs.
[Open Practice / Community Tie Time]
Room: Aerial
Instructors: HPIC / Event Staff
Skill Level: All levels welcome
Materials Needed: Optional rope for practice
A relaxed, open space to practice what you’ve learned, tie with friends, or ask follow-up questions. This is a supervised, non-instructional block meant for low-pressure rope play and connection.
Block 4 — 4:15 PM to 5:45 PM
All the Small Things
Room: Rowdy
Instructor: Jade
Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate
Materials Needed: 3 or more hanks of rope, safety shears
In this class, we’ll explore how the smallest additions can dramatically shift the look, feel, and function of a rope scene. From hair rope and toe ties to waist rope, finger rope, and other subtle variations, you’ll learn how strategic “finishing touches” can refine lines, enhance silhouettes, and completely transform the overall shape of your tie. This session focuses on thoughtful detail work, creative decision-making, and cultivating an eye for the visual impact of small adjustments — perfect for adding nuance, artistry, and intention to your rope practice.
The Fighting Ash (aka Ash’s Hishi)
Room: Aerial
Instructors: Milk
Skill Level: Anyone comfortable tying a solid single-column
Materials Needed: 3 full hanks and 1 half of standard bondage rope
A dynamic arms-in-front chest harness pattern that balances comfort, structure, and visual appeal. You’ll learn how to build adaptable tension and anchor points that support both form and function — suitable for floorwork or partial suspension.
